Since beginning my practice in Houston, Texas, in 1971 I have tried hundreds of civil cases and handled dozens of appeals. As a trial and appellate lawyer I have had the opportunity to examine volumes of documents and trial transcripts involving commercial real estate disputes and mechanics' and materialmen's liens.
Much of my trial work has involved real property disputes. I have seen what can go wrong in foreclosing a lien. I understand the application of Texas foreclosure law, how to handle the resulting litigation, and what legal errors generate claims against property, including claims for title and adverse possession.
I focus my practice on complex commercial real estate transactions. My trial experience serves my transactional clients well. Although I help my clients resolve real estate disputes or collect debts without resorting to litigation whenever possible, I am well-prepared to go to trial or appeal the decision of a lower court in order to protect my clients' interests. During negotiations, this readiness puts my client in a favorable position and ultimately increases the likelihood of a reasonable settlement.
I apply my trial and appellate experience to the benefit of clients involved in real property transactions in a second and equally important way. I have seen hundreds of examples of errors and omissions in real estate transactions.
